CINEMA NOMADE

The "CINEMA NOMADE / IL CINEMA QUA SOTTO" project was born as an internal competition in the Urban Planning II Course of the Gd'Annunzio Chieti-Pescara University of Professor Piero Rovigatti .

The competition idea was extrapolated from the "CINEPERIE" call for tenders, launched by the Directorate General for Art, Contemporary Architecture and Suburbs of MIBAC-the Ministry for Cultural Heritage and Activities of 2017 (hp: //www.cinema.beniculturali .it / Nozie / BD4687 / 82 / due to-a-mere-material-error-ripub blica-the-cineperiferie-call-with-new-deadline-on-18052018 /? clid = IwAR0ja6AFPUXp64Ibki7l82omibyDeOawv8qFPVghLelJWVkm2Xqr aimed at promoting and financing projects that help the discovery and knowledge of the peripheral areas to enhance their identity and potential, through small interventions, such as the realization of film reviews.

Having made this premise, during the semester each group of students of the course had to devise design prefigurations for the setting up of a small "OPEN AIR CINEMA", made with light and recycled materials, easy to assemble and disassemble in order to "move" the entire installation to the neighborhoods on the outskirts of Pescara: Rancitelli, San Donato and Villa del Fuoco. In the idea of setting up, each individual student had the task of proposing, with attached link, on the corresponding facebook page (hps: //www.facebook.com/Cinema-Nomade-1022970964525669/) , also some feature films titles, films authors and documentaries, with a theme consistent with the project idea, for the summer review that would then be launched in the neighborhoods using the planned installation (screen, projection system and seats and any other furnishings).

This initiative, in the style proposed by the title, being a "Nomadic Cinema", was then replicated and extended to other areas of the city under the teacher's request, such as the visually empty space between Polo Micara and Polo Universitario and the beach. free Moroni a mare, managed by a cultural association of Pescara (ARCI Pescara).

The latest initiative "Cinema al mare" in which I too took an active part, met with considerable success. On Tuesday 31 July, Wednesday 1, Thursday 2 and Friday 3 August 2018, a small self-construction workshop for children was organized. This activity managed to gather in a place consciously under-used, a nucleus of population of different age and gender, remained pleasantly intrigued and satisfied by the proposal, regenerating an open space, without disfiguring the common good itself, "the beach", generally occupied by excessively equipped and privatized bathing functions.

The long work of "CINEMA NOMADE", contained in the theme of the year of the RETAKE RANCITELLI Laboratory, was attended not only by the students and the teacher and the course assistants, such as Roberta Fraticelli, Ludovica Simionato, but also other people and associations listed below :

Francesca di Credico and Daniela Lariccia, of the Quartere Rancitelli Committee; Francesco Calandra, Maria Grazia Liguori, of Garage Lab; Marco Sclarandis, of FIAB Pescara, Fabrizio Montefusco, of CAP 15; Paola Gentili, Gabriele Ficcadenti, Simona Di Crescenzo, of OCA, Participation and Active Citizenship Observatory, Department of Architecture, University of Chieti and Pescara.

The result obtained has allowed us to continue building the program for this project, made constant until 2020, with several replicas in other contexts of the Pescara suburbs, (including the LUDOCINE 2019 initiative, held precisely in the suburbs of Rancitelli from 23 August to 4 October 2019), and the confluence of many of these activities in the PON MIUR project A scuola di città, promoted by prof. Piero Rovigatti in collaboration with various schools on the outskirts of Pescara, such as MIBE (prof. Donatella Nubile); the Manthonè Institute (prof. Camillo Giammarco); the Comprehensive Institute 1 (prof. Maurizio Cafarella, prof. Anna Paola Pizzolante, prof. Tiziana Ascione, teacher Assunta Negro).

In the final: Cinema Nomade is a not at all trivial beginning, if you think about how cinema and filmography are one of the few and great media tools available to man that allows an authentic knowledge of the changes and problems of the real world in the course of history. Cinema allows each of us to identify and project themselves into a reality different from their own, opening the mind to that human capacity, rich in beauty and positivity, called "empathy".

Finally, I quote an extract from Renzo Piano's Diary of Mending ; "SALE DI PERIFERIA" , attached to the content of the writing:

<< The outskirts of many of our cities are born inhospitable and ragged as we still see them today. A perverse mechanism revealed for the first time by the camera, which tells the symbols of urban development more than TV. Urban planning, architecture and cinema touch each other. A hymn to cinema that is also a hymn to good architecture and good urban planning, to beauty and art. This is what the cinema of civil commitment did in our country, when it reached its goal: "it helped others to believe and to live better" >>.
